St. Michael's Youth Choir sings four-part music and leads the music of Sunday liturgies once each month. Singers participate in the Royal School of Church Music's Voice for Life choir training program and learn to read music with expertise.
The Youth Choir tours for several days in the spring, singing choral evensong in hosting Episcopal churches. Past tours have taken the choir to parishes in Florida, Georgia, western North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and the Bahamas. Youth do not need to be trained singers to join the Youth Choir. Each rehearsal is an opportunity to learn to sing and become a stronger musician. Members of the choir are supportive of each other, eager to learn, and committed to offering their best musical gifts in worship.
6th-12th graders who would like to join the Youth Choir should contact Kevin Kerstetter at the church. The Youth Choir's 2007 Spring Tour will be to the mountains of North Carolina as well as Tennessee. |
